In network marketing, just like in franchising, as a business builder you are provided with a system that will help you to build your business without having to invent any wheels. As a matter of fact, in franchising you are absolutely not allowed to make major changes to the business plan provided to you by the franchise company. The thing that makes MLM and network marketing work for so many people is that all they have to do is plug into an already proven system of success. The system is kept as simple as possible because business growth and sales requires that little talent is necessary to achieve predictable and duplicatable results.  What you want to do is find ordinary people and plug them into an extraordinary system.

A big problem for a lot of networkers is that they will take a perfectly good system that works for everyone and has been proven over and over again Then they will put their personal touch on it and find that those watching and learning probably don’t have the talent of that extra touch. It is hard for a lot of leaders to stay away from the receipt that has worked for everyone else and not want to add their own “improvements”. Making any changes to a system is dangerous and could easily lead to complete business failure. New recruits have to be able to see their sponsor following an outlined system that others are following and getting results with. This not only adds to their belief and confidence level but ensure that if they do have struggles that the weak link can be identified and addressed.

Watch the leaders in your company and you will find that they just do the same thing over and over again. Till the are top earners and then you may find them putting together training for their team that they have found to get results while working with their team members while building their business. Again, a word of warning. Do not get caught up in the flavor of the month. Too many times I have seen direct sellers listen to a tape, watch a video or in a live seminar learn how they are doing it in another organization or another part of the country. You will never get long-term results if you keep changing what you expect of your people. They get enough of that on their jobs.

I am already hearing talk of holiday schedules, down time and vacations as we approach the winter holiday season. One thing I have witnessed over the years is that business owners do not look at this time of the year as down time, they look at it as opportunity time.  Many businesses will run without profits till this last quarter of the year, which is why it is referred to as the “Golden Quarter”.  Success MLM and network marketing sponsors also look at this as a time for growing their businesses. Think of it as the season for prospecting, recruiting and sponsoring.

Think about it, Isn’t this the time that people are going to be spending more money and therefore needing more money? What a perfect opportunity to talk to people about earning a little extra cash in their spare time. Isn’t this the time of year when families get together? What better time to present to warm markets than during these gathering. What are most people looking for as they enter the new year? The answer is change, and for many the opportunity to change careers or even start a new business endeavor will be right up their alley.

The secret to success is that as a MLM or network marketing business owner, you have to look at your market the same as any other business owner does. Businesses are already programming us to get ready for shopping the day after Thanksgiving, now referred to as “Black Friday”. Why not have your own Black Friday and get out there and meet some new people while they are running up those credit card balances or trying to figure out how to pay for those much desired purchases.

In our industry we sell hope and opportunity regardless of our product or service. Times have never been better for helping more people get what they want. As Zig Ziglar has told us for many years, “you can have everything you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want” So be a smart business person and get out there and help as many other people as you can make positive changes in their lives.

The answer is NO! Unfortunately too many sponsors in MLM and network marketing do pre-judge or pre-qualify when sizing up prospective recruits. It cannot be done. You can not look at a person and determine that they will or will not be interested in an opportunity that you may offer. The only way to find out if someone would be interested in your business opportunity is to present to them what you have to offer and then let them respond with a yes, no or request for more information. The most successful sponsors are the ones who not only realize this but also practice it.

Understand that your one and only job is to tell your MLM story to as many people as possible and then let them decide if what you have to offer fits in their plans. Of course it helps to learn how to ask questions to find out what is going on in someone’s life to see if you can present your opportunity to then in a way that will help them enhance their life or solve their problems. What is key is learning to talk to everybody who will give you the time of day. That is where the three foot rule comes into play. Talk to any and everyone within three feet of you always. Then spend time talking to those who are most receptive to what you have to offer. As you get more practice talking to more people, you will develop a sense of how much time to spend with a person. You can not force anybody to see what you see. People can only see what “they” see and what “they” see as beneficial to themselves.

Over time you will get better at telling your story so that more people will become interested. However, your presentation skills will not be as important as just going through the numbers. Somewhere out there, there is someone looking for exactly what you or someone else has to offer. The only questions is, who is going to talk to them first? Remember always, you cannot say the right thing to the wrong human being,but you can not say the wrong thing to the right human being.

Twitter is For Builders

If you are working on building a successful network marketing or MLM business then you are aware that it is a numbers game. The more people you make contact with the more people you will get to listen to you story or take a serious look at your opportunity. It is through the law of large numbers that you will build your business. It is through quantity that you will find quality. This has been the rule in selling since the beginning of sales. It has been stated, the more contacts you make the more contracts you make.

Using the internet to prospect, recruit and sponsor is no different. However, technology allows us to leverage making contacts like never before. One medium I have been using for over two years is Twitter and a tool which leverages my Twitter efforts is TweetAdder. TweetAdder allows me to find the people on twitter that I want to talk to. I can find people who are interested in my subjects. I can find people by what they are tweeting about. I can find people by who they are interested in. I can send out pre-written messages referred to as tweets 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It also allows me to set schedules to operate only during certain hours rather than going day and night. I personally set it to follow and tweet during my waking hours. When I wake up it is already finding me new followers and sending out my tweet messages to my existing followers.

I can write out tweets that I’d like to have repeated and they are kept on file and may be re-tweeted daily or weekly. I can place links in my tweets and send readers where I’d like for them to take a look. I can set up automatic re-tweets of selected content. There are many other features that I don’t even use and won’t go into here.

The bottom line is that you could not hire an assistant to do this work for you 24/7 for the small investment you will make in TweetAdder   I recommend that you get the multiple user license because if you’re using Twitter effectively you will certainly be using more than one Twitter account. I have well over 30 accounts running through TweetAdder, many of these accounts with tens of thousands of followers just because of this system.

TweetAdder does a fantastic job of updating improvements automatically and their support is among the best I’ve seen. If you are familiar with how Twitter works you will find it easy to be up and running  within minutes. If you are new to Twitter, TweetAdder provides excellent tutorials that will have you up and running in a very short period of time. MLM and network marketing is a business of leverage and simplification and there is no better tool to do both when it comes to social media marketing than TweetAdder.
